More Congressmen Back Barney Frank’s IGREA PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 10 December 2007

US politician, Frank Barney, has managed to bolster support for his proposed Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act (IGREA) after three more Congressmen promised their backing this week. Robert Andrews from New Jersey, Adam Smith from Washington and John Larson from Connecticut have all been convinced by Frank that the IGREA is the best solution to the United States’ growing woes in the online gambling industry, including a multi-billion dollar compensation claim slapped on its economy by the World Trade Organization.

Barney Frank’s act proposes to legalize and regulate the internet wagering industry in the United States, instead of the all-out ban on some sectors of the industry that came about with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act that was sneaked through last year. The new co-sponsors of Frank’s IGREA brings the number of Congressional supporters to 44. They bring with them a wealth of cumulative years in political experience. Robert Andrews is in his tenth term of office, Adam Smith is in his 11th year and John Larson has served for five years.
