PokerStars.com, the popular online poker room, has broken a record previously held by PartyPoker in 2006, for the site to attract the most amount of real-money ring players at one given time. A casino player tracking firm announced that over 20,000 players visited the Kahnawake-licensed PokerStars this week. On two different occasions last week, this number reached over 19,900 players before the record was finally broken. The leading poker site, PartyPoker was the traditional industry leader in the United States before the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act set in in 2006, and the site was forced to exit the local market. As a result, PokerStars, a privately owned company that continues to serve US players, grabbed a good portion of the PartyPoker customer base and the results were shown by the huge volume of traffic this week.
