Poker Players Flock to Online Tournaments |

Large numbers of poker players flocked to poker rooms last week, well above the expected average. Sites such as PokerStars.com, FullTiltPoker.com and PartyPoker.com reported that they passed their pre-tournament guarantees, leading to further proof that the poker industry is indeed enjoying a revival. More than 1700 players entered PartyPoker.com’s $300,000 guaranteed tournament over last weekend, which managed to offer a first prize of $67,665 and a total prize pool of $347,000. The One Million Dollar guaranteed event that runs regularly on FullTilt.com also pulled in over 2,200 players and generated a prize pool worth $1.26-million. However, the poker room that dominated the scene last week was definitely PokerStars.com with its regular Sunday Million event that started with a field of 7,520 players. The result was a whopping $1.5-million prize pool, with first prize estimated to be worth $212,000.
