Antigua May be Added to UK Gambling White List After All PDF Print E-mail

After a delegation of Antigua visited the British Minister of Sport in the UK this week, it has been speculated that the tiny Caribbean state may be put on the famed ‘white list’. This means that online casinos that operate from within the Antiguan jurisdiction may soon be able to advertise their sites in the British media.  An example of one of these online casinos is English Harbour Casino.

Earlier this month, Antigua, along with the Mohawk Kahnawake Territory, was rejected from the white list by the UK Gambling Commission, although reasons were not cited for this move. As a result, a delegation, headed by the Antigua Minister of Finance, Dr. Errol Cort, visited the UK in a bid to plead their case and get the Commission to change its mind.

After the meeting, Dr. Cort said that he was ‘extremely encouraged’ by the reception extended by Minister Gerry Sutcliffe. “I was happy to learn that very little stands in the way of our approval for whitelisting, and I think I can express confidence that this issue will be resolved favourably in the very near future," he said.
