Washington State has issued a strong warning to all potential online gamblers, reminding them that this type of activity is considered illegal in the state. The announcement comes ahead of the Sunday Super Bowl clash between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots, which traditionally attracts a deluge of internet gambling activity. It is estimated that over sixty million people, through 1800 online betting sites, will bet over $500-million on the Super Bowl.

The Washington State Gambling Commission said that, if caught, gamblers could be charged with a Class C felony and face up to three months in jail and a fine of up to $10,000. Gamblers would also be found guilty if they play online in the privacy of their own homes. The Commission also reminded players that there was no legal recourse if they gambled their money and never got paid.
