The US House Representative, Jim McDermott, presented members of Congress last week with the findings of an analysis drawn up by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, showing exactly how much the US economy would benefit should online gambling become legal in the country. It was estimated that the US coffers could expand by between $8-billion to $42.8-billion over the period of a decade, simply by regulating the industry. McDermott joins a growing number of politicians who are trying to get the US to revoke the controversial Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act that was passed last year. McDermott said that a new law to regulate the industry would be the perfect opportunity to protect online gambling consumers, and at the same time recoup literally millions of dollars that could benefit the IRS and other government bodies. It has been proven that, despite the UIGEA, millions of Americans still take their gambling fun online, for example at Golden Casino, which still is accepting US players.
