Despite the fact that many online gambling companies are ignoring the regulatory demands put in place by the UK government in order to operate in the country, Bodog has officially applied for a license from the UK Gambling Commission. In order to receive a betting and remote casino license, Bodog needs to prove that it is a ‘fit and proper’ operator. While waiting for the license – which is still pending – Bodog’s founder, Calvin Ayre wrote: “Bodog’s expansion into Europe is an exciting step for the company. Not only does it make sense from a business perspective, but it feels right on a personal level as well. My roots are in the United Kingdom; my grandparents hailed from Scotland and England, and I feel a lot of connection to the UK.”
