With companies such as Neteller and MyCitadel out of the picture in the US gambling market thanks to the UIGEA, it seems that the industry is desperate for an internet payment processor that can handle the pressure of massive wagering over a couple of days. Unfortunately, this fact was brought sharply into focus during last week’s Super Bowl Sunday when it was reported that existing payment processors simply could not keep up with the demand. As a result, a backlog of payments for new customers has been created and same day payouts are something that most players can only dream about. For an event that generates gambling worth $100-million in Vegas alone on one single day, the Super Bowl Sunday was badly in need of payment processors that could deliver the goods. Unfortunately, most of those operating in the market today simply do not have the infrastructure to handle such a deluge of wagers. As one operator so aptly put it: “It’s a complete nightmare!”
