eCOGRA Report: Slight Increase in Players Seeking Dispute Mediation PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, March 6, 2008

In its annual 2007 report, the industry watchdog group, eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance (eCOGRA), showed that there has been a slight increase in the number of players seeking out the organization’s dispute resolution service. Speaking for eCOGRA, Trevor Rees said: “The number of valid disputes received increased over the past year and I believe this is a result of players becoming more aware of our mediation service and our ability to respond quickly in achieving a fair outcome”.

All in all, eCOGRA received 783 complaints of which 45 were invalidated for a number of reasons, and a further 93 were not part of the 120 online casinos that fall under the group’s responsibility. Numbers show that eCOGRA settled disputes in favor of the players in 68% of the cases. Rees said that the number of ‘chancers’ seeking mediation had decreased from last year’s figures, as online gamblers become aware that investigations by eCOGRA are particularly thorough and unbiased.
