US politician, Barney Frank’s proposed Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act has earned the support of one of Congress’s most influential members, it was revealed over the weekend. Rep. Jerrold Nadler (NY-8) became the 48th co-sponsor of IGREA, which was proposed by Frank as an alternative to the controversial 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). Jerrold Nadler, serving his ninth term in office is Chairman of the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties Subcommittee – a powerful sector that deals with the freedom of religion and expression, as well as privacy issues. As a well-respected member of Congress, Nadler is expected to influence the decision of several politicians still sitting on the fence in regards to their stand on Barney Frank’s potential new legislation. Nadler represents voters in New York’s District 8 that includes parts of Manhattan’s West Side, Lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn.
