Vocal anti-gambling laws opponent, the US politician, Barney Frank has introduced another law that may deal a blow to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). Frank, together with Representative Ron Paul, introduced the new bill on Friday last week, which would essentially ban the US Treasury and Federal Reserve System from proposing or implementing regulations that pertain to the UIGEA. The new bill proposal comes hot on the heels of the special UIGEA Congressional hearing where financial bodies and banks testified how difficult the law was to implement, because of the ambiguous language used and the impossibility of figuring out what exactly was expected of them. Jeff Sandman, spokesman for the Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative, said: "The Frank-Paul Bill would stop the U.S. government from taking any further steps on regulations that would require all of the country's financial institutions to block Internet gambling payments."
