The UK based Responsibility in Gambling Trust has pointed a finger at the country’s online gambling companies, accusing them of not contributing their required share to the trust. “It's the online gamblers on the whole who are not contributing. It's difficult to get money out of these people - some of them are operating from overseas," said a culture spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats.

According to recent statistics, only one thousand out of the 3,600 gambling companies operating in the United Kingdom donated to the fund. Most of the £3.6 million collected came from several top high street companies, with the bulk of the money used to treat problem gamblers. While it is not compulsory for gambling companies to contribute to the fund, the country’s Gambling Commission has threatened to impose statutory levies if all companies do not pull their weight.
