Dr. Johnny Hon, who founded the UK-based lottery company, Betex in 2005, has announced that he is stepping down as chairman. Betex, which markets mainly to the Asian industry, has been wracked by problems since its inception, including the arrest of three of its executives by Chinese authorities for charges of illegal betting. The arrests eventually led to many of the company’s UK executives departing from the company in fear of being hounded by Asian governments. Dr. Hon, who saw Betex listed on the London AIM in 2006 will serve as Honorary President at the company. "I am comforted by the fact that after a very difficult year, the future of the company is very bright. Both as original founder and still major shareholder I remain committed to Betex and will do all I can to promote its name and activities in the PRC," he said.
