eCOGRA to Oversee New EGBA Initiative PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 20 July 2008

The London-based eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance (eCOGRA) will act as a reviewer for new standards set by the European Gaming and Betting Association. EGBA, which represents the majority of European online gambling sites, has launched the standards initiatives that will compel its members to undergo an annual inspection by eCOGRA to ensure that they are keeping up with the standards set by the Association.

“'Our goal is to make sure that EGBA has a consequential expert review process for evaluating each member's abidance with agreed and constantly applied standards, which consumers and regulators have come to be expecting in the online gaming and betting industry,” said Andrew Beveridge, Chief Executive Officer for eCOGRA.

Online casinos will also be obliged to take the necessary steps to combat minor and problem gambling.
