More Gambling Operators Seek Antigua Licensing PDF Print E-mail

The Antigua Sun reported this week that the Caribbean island state is being approached by a significantly higher percentage of online gambling operators in a bid to receive jurisdiction licensing. The reason for this increase in applications lies with the fact that Antigua recently received UK White List status, meaning that operators under Antiguan jurisdiction are allowed to advertise their goods and products in the United Kingdom – giving them a significant marketing advantage.

The director of gaming for the Antiguan government's Financial Services Regulatory Commission, Kaye McDonald, said that it was also in the country’s best interest to continue granting these licenses, as long as operators met the high criteria set to receive them. “Obviously, to have a gaming company operating in Antigua means more than just having the hardware equipment here. Key personnel, key management and key operators are required to be in Antigua and Barbuda; this is of utmost importance,” she said.
