D'Amato Shows Support for Frank's Bill PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, April 19, 2009

The Head of the Poker Players Alliance in the United States, one of the most vocal groups to support the legalization of online poker in the country, has written an op-ed letter to the Washington publication, The Hill, reiterating his group’s support for Rep. Barney Frank’s efforts to introduce pro-gambling legislation. D’Amato was responding to a charge that Frank had a very small charge of getting his bill passed by Congress in the near future. D’Amato stated, instead, that Frank had “broad, bipartisan support”.

“Liberals and Conservatives in and out of Congress are opposed to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act for a number of reasons,” wrote D'Amato. “It does nothing to prevent children and problem gamblers from playing online; it overly burdens the bank, making them, not the federal government, policemen of the internet.”
