The governor of Delaware, Jack Markell, announced that he had signed legislation that would essentially legalize sports betting in the state. A bill pertaining to sports betting in Delaware was passed by the Senate last Tuesday. The bill was signed at Delaware Park racing track, and was supported by all political parties, including the opposition. It is believed that the state can generate up to $55 million a year due to this move.

“We thank Governor Markell's administration and the State Legislature for their support of sports betting and table games and we look forward to the quick implementation of both,” said the CEO of Delaware Park, William Rickman. “The addition of sports betting and table games will enable Delaware Park to continue to enhance its entertainment value. By offering something no other East Coast venue has, we believe we will attract vital tourism dollars from the entire region, benefiting the state.”
