After weeks of speculation, it has finally been confirmed that the world’s largest gaming operator, Harrah’s Entertainment has ventured out into the online industry, with the creation of a new division known as Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment. The new unit will be headed by Mitch Garber, the former Chief Executive Operator of the Gibraltar based online gaming giant, Party Gaming. “As the world's largest gaming company, Harrah's is taking a proactive approach toward international and interactive expansion," said the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer for Harrah's Entertainment, Gary Loveman. “It is important we position ourselves to explore new markets as well as new technologies with our best in class brands.” Harrah’s Entertainment is hoping to create a presence in the US market on a free to play basis, in line with the current Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
