The Canadian gaming group, the British Columbia Lottery Company, announced this week that it would be introducing a new responsible gambling program to help gamblers become better informed about their playing habits. Concepts such as GameSense, which would teach about the need for self control, as well as educational TV ads are all part of the changes that BCLC players will be able to benefit from. “GameSense is really about balancing the fun element of play and individual choice with the need to exercise a sense of control and stay within one's boundaries when participating in games of chance,” said the President and Chief Executive Officer of BCLC, Michael Graydon. “These ads represent the first ever responsible gambling television messages to appear in BC, and we're extremely proud they have been deemed important enough to have received Public Service Announcement status from the Television Bureau of Canada.”
