Three more bank accounts that contained money earmarked for online casino payouts to US gaming customers were seized by the authorities recently, it was learned. This marks another wave of attacks on the online gambling community, following the seizure of accounts in New York over the summer. The latest raid of two Bank of America accounts and one Citi Bank account was performed by the District of Maryland under the pretext of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. What makes these raids particularly ridiculous is the fact that neither Maryland nor New York (where the first account seizures took place) has restrictions on online gambling. Lawyers for HMD Inc, the company whose name appears on the last three accounts, are hoping that this will be sufficient to have the money released and paid to the online casino customers as soon as possible.
