Alderney will showcase its new licensing regime at the IGE exhibition in London on January 26th, it was announced this week. The new regime has been running since the beginning of the year, and Alderney’s Director of eCommerce Development, Robin Le Prevost, commented on how pleased authorities were with the new framework so far.  “However well thought through, a significant revision of the licensing legislation fills you with some trepidation as to how it will be received,” he said. “But I think we can say, even though it is early days, the new scheme seems to have hit exactly the right note and enquiries and applications have shown a significant increase.”

The new regime includes the introduction of Categories 1 and 2, which cater to the outsourcing of gaming activities and to business-to-business services respectively. The most important change has been the introduction of a modular system that allows operators to choose only the parts that fit their particular businesses.
