Antigua and Barbuda Outline Multi-Billion Dollar Compensation Plan PDF Print E-mail
After finally reaching a ruling that states that the United States went against its trade policies by banning Antigua and Barbuda from participating in the American online gambling industry, the World Trade Organization (WTO) hosted representatives of this country at a special hearing on Friday. The reason for the meeting was for Antigua and Barbuda to outline why it is claiming $3.4-billion in damages from the United States, after it was shown that the country’s online casino industry suffered severe damage from the United States’ one-sided policy. Although other countries are restricted from offering their services in the US market, domestic companies are relatively free to operate interstate bets over the internet, especially in the horse racing sphere. Experts foresee, however, that the United States will need to pay out a lot more than the $3.4-billion initially claimed, with most agreeing that this number could even double.
