US Politicians Calls for End to UIGEA PDF Print E-mail

Two American politicians, who are co-sponsors of the proposed Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act that calls for an end to the UIGEA, has published an interesting article on this issue in the New York Times. The report, entitled “Web Gambling: Tax, don’t Ban!” outlines some of the most compelling arguments heard in a long time as to why the new bill would be effective in the United States.

Steve Israel (Democrat) and Pete King (Republican) joined forces to vocally back the bill and wrote that the US had much better things to do with its authorities than to chase down online gambling ‘criminals’. In addition, they argue that the country’s financial coffers could (and should) benefit hugely from the taxation imposed on internet gambling businesses. In all, they politicians are calling for a regulated online industry, much along the same lines as the new legislation passed in the United Kingdom.
