888 Optimistic Despite Poor First Half Report PDF Print E-mail

Despite first-half net income figures that were approximately half of last year’s in the same period ($27.4-million, compared to $42.7-million in the previous year), 888 Holdings PLC is optimistic that the rest of the year will be much more profitable. The internet gambling company lost a huge portion of its markets when the United States effectively banned online wagering last year, with the signing of the UIGEA.

888 announced this week that despite poor first-half figures, July’s net income was ‘record-breaking’, giving the company hope that the end of the year will show a huge improvement. A new partnership deal, signed with one of Latin America’s top poker providers, Tower Torneos International, means that the latter will use 888’s poker platform and provide all its players with access to 888’s casino, bingo and backgammon games. The two companies will also develop and operate new games that are appropriate for the Latin American gaming market. It is understood that this new enterprise will improve 888’s lot greatly.
