An interesting month can be expected for participants in the online gambling industry action around the globe, but this is especially true when dealing with the US industry. Not since pre-UIGEA days has the internet wagering world been so full of anticipation and speculation about what the future holds. First on the agenda is the US vs. most of the world in the World Trade Organization ruling that America should compensate foreign countries for loss of revenue due to its unfair online gaming trade practices. In October, we hope to see the US offering concrete and appropriate compensation packages to the original complainants, Antigua and Barbuda, as well as the European Union and others.
We can also expect to see action on US home ground in the impending iMEGA vs. the US Government case, where it is hoped that the judge will rule to submit a temporary restraining order on the UIGEA. This will be a huge victory for all those who have been fighting night and day to see this law overturned since it was introduced last year. Watch this space for exciting results in the month of October. |
