Preview Opening for Lady Luck Casino

A huge selection of slot machines have been lit up, and dealers dressed in vibrant red shirts have been perched behind blackjack and poker tables inside the Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort on Thursday.

The scene was staged for the media as a preview to Monday’s planned grand opening in the flagship with the Isle of Capri Casinos’ Lady Luck casinos.

Practice runs for the dealers plus the rest of your 500 staff, and about 500 invited guests, have been scheduled for Thursday and Saturday nights.

If every little thing goes as planned through the practice nights, in which all gambling proceeds will probably be donated to charities, a grand opening ceremony might be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday. The doors will open at noon then stay open 24 hours each day.

Lady Luck Nemacolin could be the St. Louis, Mo.-based Isle of Capri’s 16th casino and the fifth to bear the Lady Luck name.

“The flagship of the Lady Luck brand,” is how common manager Wealthy Laudon described the new casino. “We’re very proud of how this turned out. It took a whole lot of function to obtain us here these days.”

The casino has 600 slot machines, 28 gaming tables and two restaurants. The slot machines accept many denominations and gaming tables have unique minimum bets.

In the high-limit area, a handful of blackjack tables have greater minimum bets.

Slot machines do not dispense cash to winners. Rather, the machines give tickets to winners who can redeem them for dollars at machines positioned near the cashier desk.

The casino may be the second Category three or resort casino in the state and one of your few within the country that require some kind of admission or access fee. Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia is the other Category three casino in the state. The state’s gaming law says Category three casinos are amenities of their resorts.

The restaurants will be the Lone Wolf, a casual bar featuring entertainment and meals, such as take out and express service, as well as the more upscale Otis and Henry’s Bar and Grill, which is built about a massive brick fireplace.

Isle of Capri started trying to find personnel to run the operation by holding job fairs beginning within the spring. It’s expected to employ about 500 workers.

“The people that came in have been enthused, educated and prepared,” Laudon mentioned. “They were energized to start new careers.”

Lady Luck is within the building that originally housed Nemacolin’s Outside Planet sporting goods shop, which is now positioned in downtown Uniontown, then the Wildside, a restaurant that featured arcade games.
