The famous Las Vegas casinos are not prepared to take a gamble around the spread of coronavirus.
As more establishments nationwide start to close doors in order to assist facilitate social distancing and curb the passage of COVID-19, a number of significant casinos on the Las Vegas Strip are following suit. MGM Resorts announced that it would temporarily close all Vegas places beginning Tuesday till further notice.
Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts Jim Murren explained that although the business took previous precautionary measures whilst still remaining open, a complete closure became the best option. Murren added that the option was “for the great of our employees, guests and communities.”
“Despite our commitment to dedicating extra resources for cleaning and advertising great health, whilst creating tough choices to close particular aspects of our operations, it is now apparent that this can be a public well being crisis that demands significant collective action if we are to slow its progression,” stated Murren in a statement.
MGM operates the MGM Grand, Aria, Luxor, Excalibur, Mandalay Bay, New York-New York, Park MGM, Mirage and Bellagio resorts in Vegas.
