Iowa legislators are under a lot of stress lately to legalize online gambling. Lately, the path was cleared for the state’s latest gambling expansion with on-line sports wagering. Senator Joe Bolkcom, inside a recent meeting, waved his mobile phone across the Senate floor saying it is the new pocket casino for Iowan’s. Bolkcom added, “we’re getting prepared to queue up the following generation of gamblers in Iowa. It’ll begin with sports and lead to online slot machines that appear a lot like your telephone and who knows what else.”
The Senate File 617 leads the way to legalization of sports betting activities within the state on college and expert athletics, and daily fantasy sports. The proposed bill is awaiting action sitting on Governor Kim Reynolds desk. There’s been a lot debate on obtaining the bill to get the approval needed and pass via the correct channels; senate and home.
Discussions for online gambling play is already within the works, but unless policy and lawmakers get it in gear there won’t be any online activities in the state. The state lottery is waiting on the approval for on-line activities also. Lawmakers are supposedly operating on a lottery revamp that will permit for online lottery sales.
